The Definition of Sustainable Procurement:

“Sustainable Procurement is a process whereby organisations meet their needs for goods, services, works and utilities in a way that achieves value for money on a whole life basis in terms of generating benefits not only to the organisation, but also to society and the economy, whilst minimising damage to the environment” (Sustainable Procurement Task Force)

Sustainable Procurement sits in the Procurement Services Department and manages the University’s commitment to ensuring that purchases are sustainable and have a positive impact on both the community and the environment.

Sustainable procurement is good procurement, focusing on the best value for money when taking into account the quality and whole life-cycle costs as well as social, economic and environmental impacts.
